About Text Comparer
Text Comparer shows you exactly what changed between two versions of your work. Pick two folders or two files, press Compare, and the differences are laid out side by side, so you can review a release, check a backup, merge a colleague's edits or find the one setting that differs between two servers in seconds.
Whole folders at a glance
Compare two folder trees and every file and folder is marked as different, only on the left, only on the right or identical. Filter the tree to show only the differences, expand or collapse it, and jump from one difference to the next. Exclude build output and version-control folders with simple wildcards, and use quick mode to skip reading files whose size and modification time already match.
Every changed word in every file
Double-click a file to open it in its own tab. Both versions sit in aligned panes that scroll together, with line numbers, and inside each modified line the exact words that changed are highlighted. An overview bar shows where the changes are in the whole file, and you can hide long runs of identical lines to focus on what changed. Ignore whitespace, letter case or blank lines when they don't matter.
Fast on the biggest inputs
All comparison work is done by a native C++ engine using Myers' diff algorithm in linear space, and both views only draw what is on screen. A 200,000-line file compares in under a second, and large folder trees stay responsive. Binary files, line endings, byte-order marks and invalid characters are all handled safely.
Your files stay on your computer
Text Comparer works entirely offline. Nothing you compare is uploaded, so it is safe for source code, contracts and configuration files.
What you get
A lifetime licence key, emailed straight after payment, with installers for Windows and Linux. The same key works on either platform, and you can move it to a new computer whenever you like: deactivate it in the app under Help → License, or from your order page.
